A comment from our students;

We received the course as a wedding gift from some friends of ours. After our honeymoon in Japan, we were looking forward to recreating some of our favourite pieces of sushi. Nari and Yoshi were very welcoming from the first moment we met them. The kitchen is beautiful, large and set up so as to easily move from one area of learning to another. The morning flew by so quickly as we learnt about making sushi rice, to the technique to making omlette, to cutting the fish and rolling. We were also lucky that Nari and Yoshi were able to build in some of our favourite sushi styles into the course, such as spicy tuna handrolls. We were surprised by how much we picked up and grateful that it was all recorded in a book for us to take away with a starter kit too. Nari and Yoshi's teaching style is impeccable and they also told us many secret tips for achieving the best result! We feel we have taken on skills we can definitely use for ourselves thanks to their method. And best of all was the huge platter of sushi we were able to take home afterwards! I would (and have already to friends) recommend this course to everyone! Sofia and David xx

"I had a fantastic afternoon making sushis with Nari and Yoshi. Not only was the experience fun but the sushis were very good. I would definitely recommend taking the sushi class and would certainly do it myself again. Matthieu"

Nari & Yoshie, Thank you for our lesson Sunday, it made a great birthday present. We had lots of fun, learned lots about different types of sushi and the ingredients and got to take home all the delicious sushi that we made. I will recommend you to everyone I know that likes sushi. You made us feel very welcome in your home and the lesson was thoughtful, practical and really good fun. Thanks

"Always wanting to learn how to make sushi and having never attempted this lesson was just perfect for me. From the welcome into the home to the beautiful take away bag the lesson covered everything from start to finish. Any questions I had were answered brilliantly and felt that I came home with the ability to impress with my new japanese cooking knowledge. Thank you very much!"

Nari and Yoshie gave us a wonderful afternoon making sushi, they are very engaging and knowledgeable teachers. The course has a nice pace allowing you to absorb all the important details. Everything is covered so you are able to replicate all the sushi styles for yourself at home. I checked out a few other London sushi course websites before choosing Nari and Yoshie, I think after attending the course I definitely chose well, it is a very good course and good value for money too.

"Thank you Nari and Yoshie for a great afternoon last weekend. Both chris and myself could not believe how quickly the time passed and how much we had learnt.
I had searched around the Internet for sushi courses and yours definately seemed to be the most comprehensive and also the longest. I also greatly appreciate your understanding changing the day when chris fell ill at such short notice. We have plans over the next few weeks to buy our rice cooker and then fill our cupboards with all the cookware needed. Home made sushi is simply the best. With very best regards to you both an we have no hesitation in recommending you to all our friends. If anyone is reading this with a view to booking a lesson with nari and yoshie all we can say is that you will not be dissapointed. A great afternoon with great hosts."

"Yes indeed it was very pleasant afternoon in your home preparing lovely sushi. I did learn a lot and enjoy every minute of your course. I will recommend to my friends. Thank you again for your warm welcome"

I had a great afternoon learning the basics of sushi making at Nari and Yoshie’s home. They are both very friendly and extremely skilled at teaching sushi making to beginners. During 3 hours, we covered a lot of things such as the preparation of all the ingredients, how to cut fresh fish, cooking the rice and finally making all the different varieties of sushi (nigiri, rolls, oshisushi and much more…). Watching Yoshie expertly making the Japanese omelette was very impressive and I will definitely get the pan to try at home. The course is well organized: Nari and Yoshie showing you first how to do it and then it is your turn to give it a go. During this course, everything you make goes into a huge tray and you get to take everything home to have a great sushi dinner with the family. The tray didn’t last very long and my whole family thought all the sushi were delicious. Everybody was already asking when is our next sushi dinner! I believe I learned the basics to be comfortable and do more sushi at home. I know now all the stages of sushi making, where to get all the ingredients and most importantly where to get fresh sushi fish. Thank you again Nari and Yoshie for your
great teaching and I would like to hope that I left the course with a tiny bit of your sushi making skills.

"Thank you so much to Nari & Yoshie for their wonderful hospitality and for imparting so much fun and knowledge to my wife and I in the art of sushi making. We were given the sushi course as a Christmas present and Nari & Yoshie were very kind in allowing us to defer it for a long time due to my wife being pregnant and unable to eat raw fish. When we finally did the course last weekend, we had such an enjoyable couple of hours and will definitely use what we learnt to make sushi for family and friends. Definitely recommended."

Daniel and Emily:"Nari and Yoshie's sushi course was fantastic. It was a great opportunity to learn Japanese cokery from them both. Although we had tried making sushi before, the techniques and recipes we learned on the course were still new to us. They're both great teachers and we both felt we learned a lot."

Mark and Jeaneatte:"Thank you so much for a wonderful afternoon. It was worth the 2.5hr drive to visit you as we learnt so much and appreciated you sharing your knowledge. The welcome you give & informal teaching approach makes the experience so much fun. I did not expect to have so much hands on, and tasting sessions during the course. The omelette making was fascinating to watch and I had no idea how much was involved in sushi making - especially the rice. I can recommend this course to anyone who wants to experience a true authentic and educational course, mixed with a relaxed atmosphere and wonderful trainers. This was a surprise birthday gift for my husband who loves his sushi - and he's already talking about getting stuck in to start making his own. He loved it! Being vegetarian I was a little unsure if I would enjoy it - but it was fab! Plenty of choice for veggie Sushi which was a big surprise for me.Thanks for an interesting afternoon - we even managed to get home in time for England's match in the world cup!Hope to see you again some time,"

We are both fans of Sushi and this course is an excellent beginning in the art of making sushi. Both Narihito and Yoshi provided a fun learning environment with the best bit being that you get to eat what you make!! We will definitely being making sushi soon and would highly recommend this course.

I really enjoyed the course, the group size was perfect to ensure we each got the right attention and could learn properly. Nari and Yoshie are both such friendly and welcoming people. I was really impressed with my efforts and never thought I would be able to make what I did and for it to look so professional. The taste of the ingredients were amazing and so different to shop bought sushi. I would definitely recommend this course!

"A great day course in an introduction to sushi making!, Nari and Yoshie were wonderful teachers and made us feel very welcome, I was surprised how much I learnt and I will continue to use the techniques I learnt on the course in the future."

We had a fantastic day with Nari & Yoshie at the sushi school. They were patient, good fun and incredibly skilled. By the time we left, we felt confident that we could do it on our own. And will definitely be trying it a lot. Everything was friendly, easy and informative. We can't wait to show off our new skills, and we can't recommend the class highly enough. Thanks so much.

Thank you Nari and Yoshie for a lovely morning spent learning the art of sushi in your kitchen. It was a really great experience. We thought it was very informative and inspiring, especially for beginners, and taught at the perfect pace, neither too fast nor too slow. You both work so well together that it creates a lovely, calm environment to learn in. You answered all our questions very patiently and thoroughly and gave us an insight into the real culture behind sushi. Although we have been eating sushi for many years, the ingredients you gave us were so fresh and delicious that it was like nothing we'd tasted before and we both felt proud coming away with two huge trays of the delicious sushi we made! We have recommended it to friends and we wish you all the best with your brilliant sushi school.

"We had a wonderful afternoon learning all anyone would need to know about making sushi and tempura in a very welcoming environment. Nari and Yoshie presented all the instructions and demonstrations very clearly and were thorough and fun. We can't wait to try and make sushi and tempura at home and we know that with our new found skills it will be a delicious success! Thanks for a wonderful learning experience."

"From the very start of the evening I knew I was going to enjoy myself due to the exceptionally warm and friendly welcome I received from Nari and Yoshie. As a total novice to food preparation I was slightly nervous to start with but was very soon put at ease by the extremely calm, clear, and friendly tutoring. A huge amount was covered and a lot of basics that one would never think to be so important, such as the washing of the rice. Nari and Yoshie clearly love their sushi and this is extremely infectious. The vast quantity of sushi and the starter kit one leaves with make the course great value for money and aside from the skills for preparing sushi that one learns, one also learns to appreciate sushi more due to a greater understanding of how it is prepared. I would strongly recommend this course to any lover of sushi."

"We had high expectations of this acclaimed course, but it exceeded them with no difficulty at all. Nari and Yoshi are both warm and relaxing hosts but are equally accomplished and precise trainers. The session is meticulously planned and executed. All supplies, tools and examples arranged and prepared just so, step-by-step instructions are given with clear explanation of what each ingredient does, and why. In the end, the result is rewarding and generous, and the student is left with a desire to come again and learn some more from these wonderful people. Complete success. Absolutely recommended."

Sushi school was a fantastic experience - I learnt loads, and my sushi mad fiancée (for whom I bought the course as a birthday present) loved it even more. The sushi we made went down a storm at the party we went to afterwards - several of the friends from the party are already booking their places on the course! Can't wait to make even more sushi back home!

"We really enjoyed the course. It was fun, informative, and well thought out. Our hosts were generous, patient and encouraging. They are excellent teachers. And best of all, we went home with lots of delicious sushi for dinner! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this course. It was brilliant."

"We spent an enchanting afternoon with Nari and Yoshi. The whole experience was beautifully choreographed and carefully paced and prepared. We thoroughly enjoyed making the sushi, and eating the copious quantities we brought home with us afterwards. This experience would be enjoyed by anyone who likes sushi. We felt extremely well looked after and are hoping to send our children, aged 15, 19 and 21 along for an afternoon's treat soon"

Thanks so much for the course yesterday. I had a brilliant time. It was so nice to learn sushi making techniques from you both. It is clear that you have not only a deep understanding of the subject but also a passion for sushi and your culture which was very good to see. I came out of the course confident in the skills I had learned and am definitely going to try making sushi at home often. Thanks for a brilliant day, I really enjoyed it.

We had the most wonderful time at our sushi lesson with Nari & Yoshie! We felt at home from the moment we walked in. As a one-time food editor for Time Out New York, I have very high expectations about food, and cooking classes. The knowledge and experience that Nari & Yoshie brought to the lesson was impressive, and the quality of the ingredients and materials we used was high. We found Nari & Yoshie to be great (and patient) teachers, who gave a well-rounded lesson incorporating not only very many different types of sushi, but also sharing sushi-making secrets and important tidbits of the cuisine’s history. Once our lesson was over we couldn’t believe how the time had flown by! We also left with enough sushi to feed a few families! As well as a lovely and thoughtful gift bag that included a starter kit. We left eager to put our newly found knowledge to good use, and immediately made a trip over the Japanese grocer they recommended to stock up on the necessary materials.

The course started with a cup of hot green tea which was a perfect welcome considering the weather outside!! We then made Nigiri, Maki rolls ( thin, fat and califoria rolls), Gunkan, Temari, Oshi-Zushi,Inari and a demonstration of how to cook Tamago. The course also explains cutting techniques which was invaluable along with the correct way of preparing Sushi rice. At the end of the course, we left with enough sushi to happily feed a small village!! A fantastic experience , which I’d recommend to anyone who wants to start making Sushi at home.

Thank you for a fantastic sushi course, it was great! I have never done a cooking course before but I found this really informative and in a nice relaxed atmosphere, I felt learnt a huge amount about sushi! The tray of sushi which was presented at the end, made during the course, was simply delicious and I feel I have the knowledge now to make good sushi for my Seafood Deli, thanks again Nari and Yoshie

Thank you so much for such a great afternoon. We thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a great surprise for Grant's 30th birthday! We have been to look at buying a rice cooker but it might have to wait until we move house as we have no room!! You made everything look very easy and the instructions were very clear. We had such a feast when we got back to the hotel! Since we have been home, we have recommended the course to all of our friends.

“I was given the sushi course as a birthday present from my girlfriend and I was very impressed from the start, I was made to feel at home and relaxed right away. Learning to make sushi was very easy to understand and remember and the sushi I made was appreciated by my girlfriend and flat mates. I can’t wait to put my newfound sushi skills to the test. I thoroughly recommend this course to everyone! I look forward to Nari and Yoshi starting a more advanced Japanese cooking course”

"The thought of learning how to cook in a family home was a little intimidating, but Nari and Yoshie welcomed us with open arms, a chef's jacket and slippers. Their charm coupled with their professionalism made it more like a homely restaurant where we were taught effectively, yet casually. Nari and Yoshie seamlessly managed the cooking challenges to keep us busy and fed! With no pressure to take notes we could simply relax into preparing the sushi, learning knife skills and eating the very best quality ingredients. N&Y gave us an information pack, with recipes, ingredients and equipment list to leave with. We will be preparing our sushi pack lunches from this day forth!"

"Thank you so much for a wonderful afternoon. It was the best course we have ever attended. The atmosphere was very friendly and we were warmly welcomed into your home. The sushi was the best we had ever tasted (even though we made it ourselves!). We found you both patient and clear in your instructions are are confident that we'll be able to make sushi at home.
The little personal touches of complimentary green tea, sake and water were happily received and we will highly recommend you to everyone we know."

We spent a fantastic afternoon learning how to make sushi with Nari and Yoshie. They are extremely hospitable and capable teachers who ensure you have fun while learning lots. The course structure was ideal with a good balance of teaching, doing and sampling. Thanks to the excellent teaching and take-away guide and starter kit, we're now all set to make our own sushi at home. Top marks to Nari and Yoshie!

We had a brilliant time learning the art of sushi rolling with yoshie and Nari in their home. Their sushi course is excellently organised and going home with loads of sushi, a sushi-making starter kit and a tailored handbook feels like real value for money. Thank you, a really great day,

I was trying to find the right words to express (and to do justice to the course and our generous hosts) of how I felt about the sushi course and the only way to describe it is: I absolutely loved every minute of it. So much fun it made learning and remembering easy and the time flew past and before we knew it we were sitting nimbling some sushi with some extra smooth saki (fantastic as I'm a teetotaller). The girls in our group were hilarious and we all thoroughly enjoyed the time we had spent together.
The course content was packed with all the information and practice you would need to host a dinner party with confidence, making all the different forms of sushi and we covered so much in the time we had. Nari and Yoshi were fantastic, completely in tune with what the students wanted to learn and make, and everything they covered in the course, including suppliers and tips were provided so there was no need for frantic notetaking.
This is one of the best courses I have ever attended and would recommended it to anyone interested in learning how to make sushi.
Would definately attend another course on Japanese cooking and wouldnt dream of going anywhere else. 150% to our gracious hosts.
Thank you for your love and dedication to the art.

Our afternoon with Nari and Yoshie learning to make sushi was throughly enjoyable and well worth doing. They were excellent tutors and we left not only with two huge plates of sushi that we had made, but also inspired to make more at home! We would highly recommend.

I had a wonderfull time at this sushi course. I ve been to quite a few different cooking courses and this one is definetly an outstanding and very good value one. Not only you learn to make sushi from true profesionals who have years of sushi making experience, but also you get to take home a huge tray of sushi you made on that day home and you get a lovely sushi making started pack...Amazing value and best experience. and by the way it was the best sushi i ve ever had...

As a christmas present to my girlfriend, I was hoping the private sushi lesson would be something special. It was, in every way. As soon as we arrived we were so humbly invited into the home of Nari and Yoshie who were masters of their trade whilst being the friendliest couple I think I've ever met. As an experience it was truly holistic and we felt we learnt as much about Japanese culture, history and the ingredients as we did about preparing the food. That evening we invited some of friends over to help us eat what we'd made....it was a-m-a-z-i-n-g! It was an utterly unique introduction to sushi which we will be highly recommending. THANKYOU NARI AND YOSHIE!

Thank you for a most enjoyable introduction to the preparation of sushi; it was done with great skill and care and I found the whole experience very rewarding.
I shared the sushi we prepared with my friends who had bought me the course for a Birthday present, I was surprised to learn that most of them had never tasted sushi before! They were most impressed with my efforts and the presentation, and really enjoyed eating the fruits of my labours. Once again thank you for your efforts and patience and I wish you continued success.

We all thoroughly enjoyed the sushi making course with you. You made us most welcome. Your expert guidance enabled us to make the most professional looking and delicious tasting sushi! Our friends and family enjoyed sharing it with us. Thank you!

Since visiting Tokyo I have developed a love of Japanese cuisine especially sushi so after getting back to London and visiting numerous Japanese restaurants I decided it was time for me to begin learning how to prepare and cook Japanese dishes. I chose Nari and Yoshie's course because of the wonderful testimonials written by other students and because they also covered cooking Tempura dishes which is a favourite of mine and they allowed me to bring along my own calamari to cook on top of the ingredients they had supplied and prepared for me. The day itself was very organised and ran at a speed that allowed me to ask numerous questions and at the end I was left with a massive tray of sushi along with the tempura dishes that I was taught to cook. I would highly recommend this course if you are thinking of learning how to prepare sushi and tempura dishes.

I have wanted to learn how to make sushi for ages and luckily for me, there are many courses available in London.
So many, that I found myself sitting down to do some research before I could even book a class. It seemed to me that Nari & Yoshi's Sushi School stood apart for many reasons. First, it struck me that anyone who has a website that contains free, useful information shows a commitment to providing "aftercare" to their students. Knowing about the best fish suppliers, shops (and online sites) for those unusual ingredients, and where to find specialized utensils/equipment is essential for Japanese cooking. Nari and Yoshi go one step further by putting video demonstrations on their website of how to cut fish properly and how to make Sushi Tamago (the Japanese omlette). Again, this is very useful for people who have taken the course, and want to refresh what they learned on the day. And if that is not enough Nari & Yoshi have an online store themselves where people can purchase, at a discount to other suppliers, the specialized items (knifes, rice bowl, mould, gloves) needed in Japanese cooking and used in the class. All of this invaluable information and instructions, and you have not even taken a class with them! Finally, the deal breaker, class size. This was limited to 4 people (and this is with two instructors), where some other classes have up to 16 people. Decision made.
Booking a class with Nari & Shushi was easy and I received a reply within minutes. I was sorry to learn that I would have to wait weeks for an available spot on a group lesson, but this was rectified when I mentioned that I could take a last minute cancelation space. Communication and paying was a breeze, now I was ready to make Sushi! Arriving at Nari & Yoshi's was like stepping into a friends home, and the kitchen layout was perfect for conduction lessons. The lesson plan was obviously well thought out, and flowed in a logical, seem-less pattern. We learned about the ingredients , terminology (what does nigiri mean?) and preparation while having demonstrations, practicing, and tasting. Both Nari and Yoshi supervised us while we practiced, ensuring good technique was followed. By the end of the lesson we each had a massive tray, laid out beautifully, of the items that we had made during the afternoon. Talk about work reaping rewards! My husband and I stuffed ourselves and had to call in friends to help us eat all of the delicious food. I am now armed with the knowledge, tools and confidence to make my own Sushi. And it is all down to choosing to attend Nari and Yoshi's Sushi School. Not only would I be happy to recommend this to a friend, I will be returning for another lesson. Nari and Yoshi have agreed to teach me how to make tempura, teriyaki, and a Japanese dish of my choosing. I can't wait be able to prepare a Japanese feast.

The class is very informative yet relaxed, we had one to one tuition with Nari and Yoshie and as they are Japanese, we could learn from the experts. We learned how to make many different types of sushi and tempura which was really exciting and could practice making everything hands-on. The course covered everything you need to know to make basic sushi - from preparing the ingredients and where to get it from, the correct technique to wash and prepare the rice to ensure it is perfect, how to cut the fish correctly etc. We would highly recommend this course to anyone who loves Sushi!

Thank you very much, it was really a great experience and it was wonderful to learn this amazing art of making sushi and we will definitely use what you have taught us to make sushi for ourselves. You are wonderful teachers and it was a pleasure to be a part of your class. Thank you very much! We can and will definitely recommend this class to anyone who wish to learn how to make sushi. We are going to enjoy our sushi dinner tonight. Again, thank you very much!

Without a doubt, that was the best cookery lesson we've ever had and the best part, was getting to take all that sushi home. Mr and Mrs Matsunaga are excellent teachers and wonderful hosts.

I can highly recommend this Sushi course. The two teachers were both so well organised, so clear in their instructions on how to make everything. The course simply flowed from one demonstration on making a type of Sushi, to attempting to make it ourselves. By the time we had accomplished it, everything was ready for the next demonstration. It has certainly inspired me to try making Sushi at home. Thank You
===========================================
I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent with my mum, Amanda, during your sushi class. I thought the way you organized and presented the demonstrations, was most impressive. As was the quality of food provided and created ! I would highly recommend, to all my sushi loving friends, to also take your class. It was an unforgettable experience.

"We had a fantastic day making sushi with Nari and Yoshie. They are real experts who made learning fun and relaxed. We are looking forward to doing this at home! " The Van den Berghe family

This Sushi course was a fantastic Christmas present from my wife. We both love sushi and I have always said that I would love to learn to do it properly. Now my wish has come true, and what a wonderful experience it was. Nari and Yoshie made me feel relaxed and very welcome in their beautiful home. The environment was perfect and I was able to relax and learn.
To begin with I felt slightly nervous that I would not be good enough or would make too many mistakes, but Nari and Yoshie were very patient with me and explained in detail every step of the process of making sushi and tempura. This allowed me to relax and open up to asking questions. The course covered everything I need to know to get started and more. I really appreciated the detail of the instruction and to be able to takeaway the course notes (as well as all the sushi I had prepared) with me to use as a refresher later was an unexpected bonus.
I was most surprised at how much I learned in the time spent. Telling my wife about it later I was amazed at how much I had retained. I put this down to Nari and Yoshie’s attention to detail and their relaxed approach.
This was an amazing introductory course in sushi making that I would recommend to anyone who has ever wanted to make sushi at home. I now feel confident enough to be able to entertain my friends and family and prepare the different kinds of sushi that I learned at the school.

“I had a fabulous time during the course and especially enjoyed being able to eat all the great food that I had learnt to cook when I got home. Thank you so much for all the help you gave me on the course – it was so much fun and I also learnt so much. I just wish I could do the course again – I’ll have to persuade my husband to buy me it for me again!”

"I highly recommend attending this superb Course. Nari and Yoshi carefully explained/demonstrated “Step by Step” how to prepare delicious Sushi using the right equipment. The course run from their home also heightened the experience with its wonderful Japanese home atmosphere. I wish Nari and Yoshi every success in the future, it was a great experience."

“From the moment that I walked in I was made to feel completely at home. This was my first cookery course of any kind and although fairly proficient in the kitchen, I did not know what to expect. There were four people in my group and with Nari and Yoshi on hand at all time offering their pearls of wisdom with a smile on their face, you couldn’t help but feel comfortable, even in the presence of such talented chefs (Yoshi’s sweet omlette was superb!). The goody bag we got to take home was a lovely gesture and as you have seen from the photos, you are walking out with enough sushi to feed two hungry sumo wrestlers! This intimate training course was fun, informative and comes with a glowing recommendation from me. The perfect introduction to sushi!”

Nari & Yoshie have built a little Japan in north London where they make you feel immediately at home upon your arrival – you’ll have to change into slippers and a sushi robe when you get there J. They’re clearly very experienced at teaching people how to make Sushi and take you through the process step by step. At no point did we feel lost or confused and the morning we spent making Sushi was very enjoyable. It’s amazing how much you can learn in a few hours and we went home with a mountain of food... I’d recommend this to anyone with an interest in learning how to make Sushi.

I hope you are both well. You are welcome to put our photograph on your website. We both had really good time!! It was a wonderful experience and very useful as well. We shared our sushi with some friends and everybody loved it. We already made some tempura at home as well. It was delicious! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

We found this course thoroughly enjoyable and interesting. Nari and Yoshie are both incredibly kind people and very skilled teachers. We feel very privileged to have learned to make sushi in their home and under their guidance. The content and the atmosphere were great, we cannot recommend this course highly enough.

Nari and Yoshie, Thank you so much for your amazing sushi course, we had a really great time. We invited friends round afterwards to help us eat the sushi we had made and everyone loved it so much I think you may have some more students coming to the course! Regards

Nari & Yoshie's sushi beginners course deserves a 10/10. The two of them are not only very welcoming but also very thorough in their explanations, dispensing just the amount of didacticism it requires for your averagely (un)skilled person to follow and memorise the proceedings. Most importantly, their course is very well structured, which means you'll never feel overwhelmed and can simply enjoy the fun. If you want to get started, look no further as this is the real thing!Alice and I wish you all the best for your business! If you ever plan on giving Japanese cooking courses, count us in! Best regards,

Sorry for replying so late, It was a hectic Christmas period and a busy start to the new year, however, I have thought many times of making sushi after the wonderful introductory course you gave!! Unfortunately, I have not had time to buy the equipment yet to start making sushi at home, but rest assured, I will correct it. It was a wonderful time that i spent with the both of you, and who knows, after some practise, i maybe back for taking sushi ti the next level!! Take care and thanks again for such a wonderful time!!
Attending the sushi school was a fantastic and wonderful present from my wife. Being a former visitor to Japan and a huge fan of sushi and sushimi, this was a fantastic introductory course for a novice (and somewhat naive) cook of Japaneese food. A great combination of hospitality and expert instruction greeted me at the sushi school and at the end of it I went away with a platter that would be proud to be present at the finest of sushi restaurants. I would thoroughly recommend this course to anyone who has always wanted to make sushi at home, but has never really known where to start!! An excellent intorductory course, and I will certainly be back to fine-tune my culinary skills

"Exactly what we were looking for: a great sushi course, which was fun, interesting and tasty! Nari and Yoshie were excellent teachers, welcoming hosts and clearly experts in what they do."

Thank you so much for a great afternoon on Saturday. We both thoroughly enjoyed learning about sushi making with you in your kitchen. We are confident that we will be able to make sushi again with all the techniques and tips that you gave us and look forward to making it for friends too. We particularly enjoyed making the maki rolls and learning how to cut fish for sushi and sashimi. The regular tastings were also a highlight as we became progressively more hungry throughout the afternoon!
The sushi course proved to be a very special Christmas present for Dan and we thank you once again for a wonderful afternoon.

I received the Sushi Course as a Christmas present from my husband.I love cooking and I love Japanese food, but I never thought I could have ever learned to make sushi.
Nari and Yoshie are a charming couple and they immediately make you feel welcome.Their way of teaching is simple and skillfull, obviously drawing on many years of experience. They make the whole process easy and enjoyable.During the course I learned all the basic steps of sushi-making, all in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Not only will you learn how to make sushi, they will also pass on precious tips on technique, and provide information on where to buy the best products.I would happily recommend it to all sushi lovers!
Arigato Nari & Yoshie!! Sabrina

‘We had a wonderful time. Sushi definitely tastes better when you make it yourself. Nari and Yoshie are such good teachers you’ll be amazed at how much you learn.’

"We had a fantastic afternoon with Nari and Yoshie. They are both very professional and make the course really enjoyable. We learnt everything to make sushi from cooking the rice to slicing the fish. We would definitely recommend the course to any sushi lover."

Instantly welcoming, the time with Nari and Yoshie flies by as they share their sushi-making expertise. The course is very much hands-on and we spent a wonderful afternoon making two huge platters of sushi for a party that evening. We would now feel confident reproducing this at home and would thoroughly recommend the course to all sushi fans.

What a great course, very friendly and helpful.I went straight out and bought a rice cooker the next day!
I would definately recommend you

We really enjoyed our Sunday with you learning to make sushi. It's inspired us to buy a Tefal rice cooker and we will place an order for some other goods with you in the new year.
We have told all our friends, that if they want to learn how to make sushi, they come to our place, but better still....go to the professionals!

All three of us were more than happy with the course and would recommend it to anyone!
From the first step into their home, we were given a very warm welcome and really felt at home for the entire duration of the course. The course itself is very informative and it’s run in a very relaxed, informal but yet very professional way. We had lots of fun and have learnt a great deal. Nari & Yosie are excellent teachers and we are already enjoying making Sushi at home ourselves. Don’t hesitate into booking a course with Nari & Yosie, as believe us, it will be very difficult to find a better course. We are already planning the next stage of the Sushi making class. We can’t wait. Thank you so much Nari & Yoshie.

"We cannot recommend this great course highly enough. It was great fun and Nari and Yoshie packed tons into the time we had. We learned so much and were tasting bits throughout the course, making it all the more fun. All our family and friends were really impressed with what we had made. We'd definitely do another course here!" Claire and Pierre Spake

' Both Nari & Yoshie are fantastic teachers and the course is run in a relaxed, informal way. We really enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to try out our new skills! We would definitely recommend this excellent course.'

"We received the sushi course as a wedding present, and it was one of the best gifts we received. We were amazed by how much we learnt in such a short time, and by how easy Nari and Yoshie made it all. We left with mountains of amazing sushi that looked so professional people wouldn't believe we had made it! We have now converted our love of eating sushi into a love of making sushi thanks to your excellent tuition. Thank you so much for such a wonderful afternoon."

Nari and Yoshie are both excellent teachers and the course was both fun and inspiring, it really is the best start to a life with home made sushi. We were both made welcome
as soon as we arrived and we both enjoyed the lessons and the history of sushi explained along the way (and the sushi we made was excellent, if we do say so ourselves...).We're definitely going to use our new sushi making skills in the future and we will be going back to Nari and Yoshie to learn more (once we've perfected the basics). Thanks again for a great afternoon and we can say without a doubt that we highly recommend this course (and already have) to everyone who loves sushi. Thanks again,

Thank you for the wonderful & very enlightening course. The kids absolutely enjoyed & can't wait for the weekend to try making it at home. Highly recomend it to our friends.

We were both very happy with your course and would recommend it to absolutely anyone!
We were given a warm welcome and made to feel at home for the entire duration of our time there with you.
The course was very informative and Professional, but also a great deal of fun!
The ingredients supplied for us to use were (as promised) of the very highest standard and extremely fresh.
We were given an extremely beautiful certificate when we left, and also given a bag of goodies which was a lovely surprise.
We left with a wealth of knowledge of how to make all kinds of Sushi and we came home with more sushi than we could eat. It was all delicious, and having made it ourselves made it taste even better!
Many thanks to you both for making our day so enjoyable and so very special, and we can't wait to try out our new Sushi making skills here at home!

Thank you so much for teaching us to make such great and delicious sushi. We had such an enjoyable afternoon, made even better by the suberb teaching style of Nari and Yoshi and the small class size made for a very personal feel.
During the afternnon we learnt every aspect of good sushi making and the information book we received containing all the skills we learnt will come in very handy.
All the sushi we made on the course we got to take home - and there was alot!! We loved eating this for lunch and dinner the next day.

I would like to thank you both for the Sushi course. It was a great pleasure to learn from experts on how to make Sushi the correct way.I liked your learning style very much and we could ask as many questions as we liked – all of which were answered well.(Jack)

" the test of great teachers is they make everything seem easy, Nari & Yoshie made sushi making seem easy yet did so with the skill and elegance of years of experience.......it really was a pleasure to learn from them and I realy look forward to trying it in my own home, after only 3 hours ot tution I feel I have gained lots of tips and good experience"(Catheline)

I just wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you for the Sushi Lesson we had on Saturday. It was the occasion of Hannah’s birthday and I wanted to do something really special, and the time spent with you exceeded my expectations. I looked around online before booking with you, and what I particularly liked about your course was the fact that you teach a range of sushi styles (maki rolls, nigiri, hand rolls etc) and that we could book a private lesson for just the two of us. We walked away with the knowledge and techniques to make various types of sushi, and it was the most fun that we had had in a very long time!! Needless to say, we are now hooked and are looking at trying to make sushi without your expert help in the next couple of weeks, and we will of course send you a picture of it.I cannot recommend this enough, and even 5 days later the time we spent still brings a smile to our faces. Thank you so very much!!

What a fabulous afternoon we had yesterday! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. We were fascinated to learn about the art of making sushi. We liked that you taught us both traditional regional specialties and also contemporary sushi styling. The course was excellent value and we very much enjoyed our sushi dinner afterwards! Thank you for welcoming us into your home and teaching us about Japanese cuisine. Thanks also for the practical starter kit! We look forward to using our new skills at home and would highly recommend your course to anyone who likes to learn while having fun!

"The day spent with Nari and his wife was extremely enjoyable. They are genuinely nice people and are very welcoming into their private home, however the atmosphere is still professional and it is very obvious that they both have had extensive experience in sushi making. The course was an excellent base (and more) to kick start our sushi making skills. I would recommend the course to anyone wanting to learn more about the history and art of sushi making."

"We found Nari and Yoshie's Sushi School online and are so pleased that we decided to book a private lesson for the two of us. They were both very welcoming into their home and had a very professional kitchen for us to learn in. The course included every aspect of sushi making from the rice and fish preparation to pressing, rolling and creating the finished pieces. It is an incredibly enjoyable afternoon for anyone who is interested in sushi and what we particularly liked was Nari and Yoshie's explanations of Japanese culture and how it has shaped the techniques for sushi making. While sushi is easy to pick up, it takes many years to excel in!!!
A highly recommended course that is ideal as a present for someone with an interest in sushi!!!"

"I have enjoyed eating Sushi for many years and now, after a my time with Nari and Yoshie at Sushi School I can enjoy making it as well. You see Chefs preparing in Sushi restaurants, but Nari and Yoshie taught me the details I craved and gave me the confidence and tools to go home and have a go myself. So I now get double enjoyment of Sushi - the making and the eating. I highly recommend the course and it makes a present that will be remembered for a long time"

We thoroughly enjoyed our sushi course in the company of Nari and Yoshie. From the time we arrived, they made us feel welcome and at ease. Nari and Yoshi worked wonderfully together giving us detailed instruction on how to make sushi. Rarely can a person have as much fun and learn so much at the same time. They answered all our questions and gave us interesting background information about all the ingredients we were using. They volunteered some wonderful information about Japanese culture too. I would like to thank Nari and Yoshie for such an exciting experience and for opening a new culinary door for us. I would strongly recommend this sushi course to anybody who has an interest in this way of preparing food.
Thank you Nari and Yoshie
Nari and Yoshie – a big thank you!
This beginners course is a must for all sushi lovers eager to gain an insight, and feel confident enough to try the techniques at home.
The time just flew by; we learned how to cook and prepare the rice, make various rolls with numerous fillings, fish cutting techniques and various helpful hints. We were laden down at the end with a vast array of our own made sushi! It’s not as difficult as it looks. We shall certainly be trying out our new found skills at home. No need to scribble down notes either as a handy reference guide together with some essential ingredients was also provided to help us get started.

“We had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon with Nari and Yoshie. The sushi making was such fun. We left with a great understanding of the preparation, what to look for when shopping for the ingredients and importantly how to eat it correctly..! The take home goody bag and reference books are fab.
We would recommend the course to anyone who wants a real insight into the Japanese cuisine. We both look forward to impressing all our friends with our new skills…!”

Thank you both so much for a wonderful day, I'm still feeling very smug and pleased with myself over the large tray of sushi that I'm about to tuck into.
You both made the experience very personal - it was such a nice touch to hold a class in your home. I love that your classes are small so that each person could get the attention and help needed; this is so unusual when looking for cookery courses in London.
I would definately recommend you both to anyone thinking of learning how to make sushi.

Thank you to Nari and Yoshie for a wonderful introduction to sushi making.I learned how to cook the rice and how to prepare various interesting ingredients.By the end of the morning I had a huge platter of sushi which looked very impressive.I took this home together with a recipe manual and a bag of goodies to get me started which were greatly appreciated.

"Narihito and Yoshie are highly experienced chefs and extremely friendly. They make the sushi lesson fun and easy!
The course is a great investment for sushi lovers, and I would highly recommend it".

“We had a great afternoon learning how to make sushi with Nari and Yoshie. Watching their precision and expertise was fantastic, and we feel as if we learnt a lot in a short period. The end product was a pleasant surprise as neither of us had ever made sushi before – a testament to great teachers. We would highly recommend this course for any sushi lovers. ”

Thank you again for a fantastic afternoon! It was fun but also a really interesting experience to learn about the art of sushi-making from you and Yoshie. The sushi we made was delicious and we will definitely be making more in the future! Thank you again!
I booked us in with Nari and Yoshie to help us learn more about the difficult skills required to make sushi, after becoming addicted in Vancouver!
What a wonderful experience – we learnt so much more than we expected, and Nari and Yoshie’s skills and passion are so apparent in what they do – they make it look so easy, but also help you make it look easy too!
Less than a week after completing the basic course, we’ve already made sushi twice, and it’s been so delicious!
We would wholeheartedly recommend this session to anyone – and want to thank you both so much for your help and patience!

My girlfriend Jeanie bought the intro course to Sushi/Sashimi making as a surprise birthday present knowing my love for GOOD Japanese food. Nari and Yoshie have an excellent teaching style which combines a friendly approach with an obvious expertise on their subject matter. My cooking expertise is fairly low, so very pleasing to create two plates of fine sushi/sashimi and then have a chance to start eating it straight away. I say 'start' as we generated enough food for about six people, so we spent the day visiting friends around London with our trays! Our next mission is to cook for the Japanese side of my family though this will now be a pleasure.
If you like Sushi/Sashimi then the course provides an excellent insight into the world of the sushi/sashimi chef, compacting years of knowledge into a very practical and fun few hours. My favourite part would be the cutting of the fish, almost like bowing a musical instrument. Also great fun to make the dishes that you normal buy at swish restaurants in town.

I've done one better - I have a food blog which I have just recently launched and I've written a review on the wonderful experience Joanne and myself had last Sunday at your course! Feel free to either put the link on your website to the review and we are happy for you to post our photos up on your website.

Thanks again - the sushi dinner was great.

"This is the best way to ever learn the art of sushi making as Nari and Yoshie are very good and patient teachers, not only was it informative but it was also fun, we would recommend the course to all beginners who love to eat sushi"

We were offered the sushi preparation course as a wedding present. We had a wonderful 2.5 hour private sesson with Nari and Yoshie in their home and really enjoyed the first-hand experience of preparing a selection of delicious sushi. During the session, we learned how to prepare the rice and other ingredients, combine the various sorts of fish and vegetables and, finally, present the result in an appetising manner. The course was a real success and we had plenty of fresh sushi to eat that evening.

We had a really great time on the sushi course and an even greater time eating the end result later that evening with our friends! It looked so appetising, we even managed to persuade one friend to try sushi for the 1st time (he is very unadventurous with food so this was a really big deal!). I was amazed at how much we managed to cover in such a short time and unlike other courses I have seen, where you are in a large group, we had the undivided attention of the teachers Nari & Yoshi which really helped. We were given detailed instructions & a starter kit to take away and cannot wait to try making it again! I would highly recommend this sushi course for anyone who is a sushi fan!

The course is a must for anyone who loves sushi. Nari & Yoshie are great teachers, patiently taking you through a number of techniques…and one of the best thing is that you get to take home the rewards. Can’t wait to impress my friends with my new skills.
Fawad and I had a lovely time learning to make sushi. From the beginning of the course Nari and Yoshie were very friendly and welcomed us with smiles. As the course progressed, we discovered that making sushi was not that difficult using Nari's step by step approach. I personally enjoyed making all the different rolls and the tamago egg. Fawad enjoyed the part where we cut the salmon to make Nigri and assembling the hand rolls.
Thank you again Nari and Yoshie for the knowledge and skills you have taught us. We will be practicing these skills at home and enjoyed making all the various sushi and rolls.
Having experienced Sushi in California it has become a passion to find the best Sushi in the UK, which is not so easy as we don't live in London, and its a little scarce around the provinces. We thought it would be a good idea to try making it ourselves, after all its only rice and fish!! We found a few stores that supplied the basics and proceeded to have a go. Our first attempts were ok but some how the rice was a big problem as most of it ended up sticking to our hands and being washed off.. So thats when we decided to see if there was someone who could help us!
We came across Nari and Yoshies School on the internet. The site was very easy to use and it was clear for us to book our private lesson on the basics within 4 days!! It then all became very exciting!!
When we arrived on a sunny afternoon to be greeted with a very refreshing cup of iced tea, and after a chat we were delighted to find that we had purchased the same rice cooker as theirs so we knew we were on the right track as the rice making began. We were introduced to many of the different fillings and ingredients and then shown all the different types of sushi with the aid of cute plastic sushi (love that sort of stuff) and by this time the rice had cooked to the perfect time. The secret of the rice was then revealed.... Special Gloves!!! The roll making began. Sushi rolls galore, big, small, inside out and pressed. Cutting the Fish is an interesting art all of its own that Nari could make look so easy. At the end of the two and and half hours we were confident that we could make the best sushi and have great fun doing it especially with all the goodies we had been given. We know there is lots more to learn and Nari and Yoshies school is certainly the place to go!
Make sure you have invited your friends round the evening after the course as you get to make enough for a sushi feast!
We had such a fun sunday afternoon and surprised ourselves that our sushi tasted just like the real thing!!
Sue and Jay from Cambridge.
"I had a fantastic time learning how to make sushi with Nari and Yoshie! It was a surprise birthday present from my wife so I had no idea what to expect. They were very welcoming, offering me green tea when I arrived. Their friendliness and patience made the whole experience very comfortable and enjoyable. I was surprised how some of the sushi was made and learnt new things I didn't know before. Both Nari and Yoshie are incredibly experienced and they explained each step very clearly, answering any questions I had. I made lots of sushi to take home and eat with my wife, so much we couldn't eat it all! I also got a certificate to say I had completed the course and a bag full of sushi rice, seaweed and wasabi amongst other things to get me started on my sushi making at home. Thank you Nari and Yoshie for such a great evening!"
I had a fantastic day!
It was just myself on this course and it definitely made my experience that little but more special as I had the full undivided attention of Nari & Yoshie who are both amazing sushi chefs. They explained everything so clearly to me that it made it very easy to understand the process of how this amazing food is made. I came away feeling confident and proud of what I had achieved and I would recommend that anyone who has the passion for sushi as I do to attends and experiences this amazing day.
I got to take home all of the sushi I made that day so my boyfriend and I had real sushi feast in the evening which was amazing!
Thank you so much for having me in your beautiful home, and teaching me your skills, I am now in the process of arranging my own sushi dinner party for family and friends.
Thank you for a wonderful experience. We would highly recommend you as sushi teachers. We all had a super time learning how to make sushi. The end result looked and tasted amazing. Thank you also for the photos and goodies. We will keep you posted on our sushi expertise!
The day was fantastic,
"It was totally traditional & the fact that it was just the 2 of us in their home made it so much more special
Nari & Yoshie were very lovely & explained everything so clearly
We made so much sushi we had to get friends round to help us eat it & it was delicious.
I would recommend this to anyone who would like to try sushi making"
Thank you so much for having us in your beautiful home, and teaching us your skills, they will no doubt come in handy very soon, as we make sushi for our friends.
It was a fantastic morning, and we enjoyed every minute of it. It is an ideal present for any sushi lover. (This was a present from me to Lucy for her graduation from University).
We are having a few friends over for dinner tonight, so they can critique our work. I am sure they will love it all.
The course content is brilliant, and it taught me everything i wanted to know about making sushi from start to finish, including preparing the rice, which you may take for granted, but is still a crucial part to the sushi making process, and not as simple as you might think.
Nari and Yoshie are both amazing sushi chefs, and fantastic teachers too. They are warm, and friendly, and welcomed us so happily into their kitchen.
We had an amazing time, and will definitely be eating, and now cooking, sushi a lot more frequently.
Thank you so very much,
Jim and Lucy
We all really enjoyed the session, . You were most accommodating with both our dietary requests and my food allergy - thanks very much. Having a private session was great as you met all our requests, day time rather than evening and the timing was perfect - not long enough to get restless but very comprehensive. At the end of the session I felt ready to try and make Sushi at home. The going away kit and the notes were very useful . Thanks for a super day.
A recent keen interest in simple Japanese cooking brought me to Nari and Yoshie's sushi class. I arrived at their home with no expectations but left feeling completely thrilled and satisfied!
Nari and Yoshie played the perfect hosts, explaining the structure of the course over a hot cup of green tea. Yoshie then proceeded to show me how to make tamagoyaki (Japanese egg roll), something I have tried a few times at home but never to a great degree of success. Of course, her tamagoyaki turned out perfect! After that, Yoshie and I prepared the fillers (vegetables etc) to be used for the sushi. Nari then took over the lesson, explaining to me why it was important to learn how to cook sushi rice properly before we prepared the rice together. Prior to this, I never realised that preparing sushi rice would require patience and skill.
The next part of the lesson was perhaps the trickiest and hardest for me, learning how to prepare and slice sashimi but Nari was very patient and I think my sashimi slices turned out quite decent. Once all the ingredients were ready, it was time to assemble the sushi rolls and nigiri sushi. Nari would demonstrate with one roll and then I would have a go myself. This process was fun and both Nari and Yoshie were very encouraging every step of the way. Slicing the sushi rolls was another big challenge for me and I hope to get better at it with more practice on my own. The final step was to present my sushi rolls on a large takeaway platter. Yoshie showed me some beautiful presentations and I tried to replicate them. I was surprised by the quantity of sushi we produced in two hours (enough for 6-8 people) and was very delighted at the results. Finally, as part of the course, Nari and Yoshie also presented me with a certificate of completion and my own sushi kit.
I enjoyed the course immensely and would highly recommended it to anyone who would like to learn the art of sushi-making. It was not only a personalised and well-priced experience but Nari and Yoshie was very good teachers. Personally I want to have another lesson with them again soon!
Having a passion for food and cookery and spending my whole career involved with food production, I decided it was long overdue to learn how to prepare sushi. What appears as a consumer, relatively simplistic in looks, there lies a hidden art form that takes years of practise to perfect. Having only two and a half hours, I wanted to get the best out of my time. Nari and Yoshie welcomed me into their home with open arms - we covered the basics of rice preparation, washing and cooking to fish and vegetable preparation. I asked a multitude of questions which were capably answered and I found many things about the process increased my love and passion of the Japanese art. I was amazed about the meticulous way of cutting the fish, spreading the wasabi and even dipping the fish into soya. I rolled my sleeves up and was expected to take part in all stages.
At the end, I was presented with what had been assembled to take home for a "tea from heaven"! And also a goodie bag full of bits to get me started on my own! I would like to thank Nari and Yoshie for sharing their professionalism and expertise. The course was informative, hands-on and dare I say the best fun I have had in ages. It totally prepares you to be able to go home and replicate what was covered and I was even presented with a certificate to prove my new-found skill. I have since made a lot of my friends very jealous!

“As sushi novices, we came to the course a little daunted by how much we could really learn. We were immediately made to feel at ease by Nari and Yoshie who are very welcoming. The course was so much more than we expected – we came away with two large trays of beautiful sushi that we had prepared. We never thought that would have been possible, or that we would enjoy the process so much. If you are looking to get the skills and confidence to make great sushi at home, this is the perfect course!”

We thoroughly enjoyed attending Nari and Yoshi's Sushi making school. There were only four of us which meant we received a great deal of attention when learning the art of Sushi making. Nari and Yoshi are increadibly hospitable and welcoming and we both thoroughly recommend visiting their lovely home for this amazing experience! Don't consider any other School, as you won't find a better, more enjoyable, well priced experience than this one! See you again soon Nari and Yoshi. Ed and Carolyne.

“We visited Nari and Yoshie at their home for a sushi making course, we were quite nervous about this, as although we had attempted it before, we were well short of the standard! When we arrived at their house in North West London, we were made very welcome with some Genmaicha tea. Nari and Yoshie explained what was going to happen, and re-assured us it would be good fun – it was! We started off learning about rice and how to cook it, and we rapidly realised that we knew little about Rice and had a lot to learn. We were given tips how to cook and then guidance on what equipment to use. Then we started to prepare the contents of the sushi, Yoshie explaining how to cut the vegetables, at all times were first shown how it should be done, and then we had a go ourselves. We were guided when we struggled and our confidence was increasing as we went on. Then we had to cut the fish (tuna and salmon) – this was quite difficult, but Nari guided us through every step giving helpful tips.
The assembly! Nari showed us the first assembly, and then we had a go – what an achievement as we looked at our first sushi roll. As we tried different types our confidence, and the difficulty of the sushi increased. Slicing the sushi rolls proved to be a challenge, but with constant help and guidance we did quite a good job! Finally we assembled our sushi into an attractive container for us to take away. At the end we also received a good set of guidance notes that would help us to find the materials and a recap of the method with good clear tips for making excellent sushi.
We enjoyed our course immensely, Nari and Yoshie being charming hosts in their own home. Later that evening we took our sushi proudly to some friends of ours, who did not believe that we had made it as it looked so professional! It was delicious, and rapidly all of it was gone! The two of us made enough sushi for about 6-8 people, and of course it needs to be eaten the same day, so if you take the course (and I recommend you should!) line up some sushi lovers to help you eat it!”
